Pin Just For Fun on Pinterest

Scarletta Pinterest

Have you got the Pinterest bug yet?

Pinterest’s social popularity has been phenomenal this year in the UK. If you are not sure what Pinterest is all about check out this introduction.

You’ll either love it or hate it

Pinterest seems to be like Marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it.

And for small businesses it could be a great opportunity or just another social network that wastes time and effort. Especially if you don’t create products or have something visual to share to generate pins and exposure.

Some of the bigger brands are now using Pinterest and I have just read this post via Econsultancy Which of the top ten US online retailers are on Pinterest and those that aren’t yet. In the US Pinterest is now the 3rd largest social media networking site, which is incredible considering it hasn’t been around that long.

If I like it I’ll pin it

I am a fan of Pinterest but not really to promote Scarletta Media, for me it is a great creative source.

On a personal level I love images and seeing pictures, illustrations of words and designs which all give me loads of ideas and inspiration. I am not using Pinterest to try and generate a following, I pin just because I like to.

My boards are not deliberately created with my followers in mind, I have created them for me to refer back to and for things l like, ideas for my work and sometimes just because I want to pin something.

Find like minds

Sharing something so simple as an image or a poster can spark like minded conversation, and re-pins from others, which connects you with people who share similar interests globally and provides an insight into another persons personality. That is the fun and social part of Pinterest.

If you start to use Pinterest for fun first, then I am sure you are more likely to love it, than hate it. And then see if and where it fits into your business social media strategy.

And if you do want to check out my Pinterest boards you will find insight into the things I genuinely like, find amusing, random stuff and a little of what I like to share.

Happy pinning!

*Word of caution it is addictive
